New-Make My Own Mala!-$10.00 If you'd like to make your own tassel-less mala from any of our existing semiprecious stones (most are 8mm), we'd be happy to send you the supplies. There is a $10 labor discount, and choose your own design and save an additional $10 custom design fee! All materials needed will be sent, ready to string your custom creation. There are many options to choose from, so for detailed info, visit the the links below. Here are our suggested methods for stringing, although we do not provide tassel making and fastening (with soft flex cable) skills online, and regret that we do not have the staff-power to answer any mala making questions, (so it's "string at your own risk", or you can keep is simple and purchase a professionally strung mala from us, ready-made.) To make your own tassel-less mala, first purchase the stones, unstrung, we'll send 108 beads (plus additional markers and beadknot). You then will need Griffin Nylon beadcord, this comes already with and easy to use needle, ready to put your beads on. You then will need a three holed guru bead. Your mala will not have a tassel, just a simple knotted end, but it will have been made by 'you'! We do not offer stringing advice or guarantee ability (materials are non-refundable after stringing attempt), but we can send all that you'd need, and it should be pretty simple, and great for practicing the Paramita of Patience! 1. Step One- Buy Materials Online, and we'll ship asap 2. Layout Your Mala- starting from one side of the guru bead to the other, count out marker placement. 3. Open Griffin Beadcord, tie a knot at the far end from needle, and begin with stringing your mala by putting one bead on first and then going up through the bottom end of the guru bead cap (backwards), and through the center of the three holed bead, and out one of the sides. Please be careful, because if you make a mistake here, you'll have to restring the mala again! 4. Begin stringing your 108 beads, adding markers if needed at the appropriate places. 5. End by pushing needle back through the opposing hole in the guru bead, and joining the other through the end cap. 6. Gently stretch the beadcord, and place the last bead after the guru bead cap. (See link image below) Make two knots under the guru bead cap and then, leaving about 1" of space after the guru bead, make another two knots after each of the end beads. (try to make them even!) Cut the remaining cord about 3mm long. If you feel comfortable, you can melt the ends of the nylon cord after each bead for extra security. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- What you get: 1. 110 beads (108 plus two beads for the end) 2. One packet of Griffin Carded Nylon Beadcord with Needle 3. Your choice of guru bead and color of 4 additional bead markers if needed 4. Silver or gold color spacers if you so choose 5. Optional Mantra Counters (add on) There is a drop down menu for each of these items on the next page. There is a base $10 credit for a make your own mala, plus a waiver of our $10 custom design fee- so you save $20, and you can get all mala materials, at a reasonable price, all in one place!
