Sakura Designs hand-selects the materials used in crafting your mala. This traditional cotton tassel style is made in the USA!

Our beads are carefully "calibrated," to ensure roundness and regularity, and range from A to B quality.

Most are 8mm beads*, and a mala is approx. 18-21 inches long (36" circumference).

Excellent Dark Radiant Blue natural, undyed B-AB quality Lapis Lazuli Mala, with subtle pyrite and calcite inclusions. A Grade for $150.

LAPIS LAZULI Lapis, with its deep, azure blue, often flecked with golden pyrite and calcite inclusions, was treasured by ancient Babylonian and Egyptian civilizations. Persian legend says that the heavens owed their blue color to a massive slab of Lapis upon which the earth rested. In Tibetan Buddhism, Lapis Blue is associated with the "Medicine Buddha." Lapis was traditionally ground into a powder pigment and used in Tibetan Thangka Paintings (Sacred Art).

You won't find this fine of a mala for this price. Lapis means many things, different grades, sizes and cutting methods. Since we purchase from direct importers, we are quite particular about offering only the finest calibrated stone qualities at very reasonable prices. Each and every strand used in your mala was hand selected by a designer from Sakura.
