Chrysoprase and Quartz Mala

108 beads with rare, genuine apple chrysoprase, smoky quartz, cherry quartz and 18k gold plated beads, finished with a natural cotton tassel. Apples and Cherries, a perfect blend for a special mala design.

Chrysoprase Gemstone Information

Chrysoprase is an unmistakable gemstone quality assortment of chalcedony quartz, a cryptocrystalline type of silicon dioxide. Chrysoprase is profoundly prized for its opalescent minty, apple-green shading, which is particularly one of a kind and is owed to its unmistakable shading operator. Most green gemstones are shaded by press (tourmaline), chromium (emerald) or vanadium (tsavorite garnet). Chrysoprase is thought to be one of the rarest and most important assortments of chalcedony quartz, second just to the uncommon green-blue diamond silica, which is otherwise called ‘chrysocolla chalcedony’.

About Chrysoprase – History and Introduction

The name ‘chrysoprase’ starts from the Greek words, ‘chrusos’ and ‘prason’, signifying ‘gold’ and ‘leek’, individually; alluding to its leek-green shading and the nearness of brilliant vibrations.

Chrysoprase habitually happens in quartz veins of nickel-bearing serpentine rocks and in weathered stores of nickel mineral materials.  Not at all like most chalcedony quartz assortments that are prized for their multi-shaded examples, chrysoprase is wanted for its strong and striking green shading, which is reminiscent of the finest quality jade.

Chrysoprase can be effectively recognized through its chalcedony quartz properties and by its unmistakable light-green to apple-green shading.

With a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, jade is substantially milder and regularly less translucent, which makes it effectively discernible from chrysoprase.
