Why Carnelian?

Carnelian gets its name from the Latin word carneolus, meaning “flesh-colored,” a reference to its warm orange-red tones. It is one of the oldest traded gemstones in human history, with use dating back to the Neolithic period. In ancient Egypt and across the Mediterranean world, carnelian appeared in beads, amulets, signet rings, carved seals, and ceremonial objects.Carnelian is a translucent orange, red, or brownish-red variety of chalcedony quartz. Its color comes from iron oxide within the silica structure, creating warm tones that can range from soft amber-orange to deep reddish brown. Carnelian is commonly sourced from deposits in regions such as Brazil, India, Madagascar, and Uruguay.
