Also known as Olivine Jade, Serpentine is a term used for several different green aggregate structures, which can appear either opaque or translucent—meaning each mala has its own unique character. Serpentine is a basic magnesium silicate and often contains iron, with trace elements like chromium, nickel, and cobalt also present. I wish folks that create these products would describe whether the string is elastic. It is not, and so while a pretty piece the lack of elasticity renders it less versatile.
