Crafted Just for You

Traditional malas are made with 108 beads, a number that has long held significance in many meditation traditions. Unless you request a different design, your custom mala will feature a full strand of 108 natural gemstone beads.During the design process, you will choose from our extensive collection of premium gemstones, along with options for:

• Guru bead
• 108 bead mala pattern
• Tassel color
• Accent beads and spacers
• Sterling silver or gold-tone details

Every bead is individually hand knotted to create a durable heirloom-quality mala that drapes beautifully and allows the beads to move smoothly during meditation practice. Hand knotting takes us about 3-4 hours, so please allow one week for us to complete. If you don’t need knotting after each bead, we offer a simple DIY custom design mala here.

Our Design Process

Step One: Personal ConsultationAfter your order is placed, we will contact you to schedule your consultation via phone, text or email. Together we will discuss your design preferences, bead selections, colors, materials, and overall vision. We are happy to explain the traditional symbolism associated with different gemstones if you are interested, while recognizing that these meanings are based on cultural traditions and personal beliefs.Step Two: Design ApprovalOnce your mala has been strung, you will receive a design mockup of the layout before the knotting process begins. This allows you to review the pattern and request adjustments before the design is finalized.After your approval, the mala will be individually hand knotted, finished, inspected, and prepared for shipment. We can not offer refunds or cancellations for custom designed malas.

Every custom mala is handcrafted by Dawn using premium natural gemstones and traditional knotting techniques. Creating a hand knotted mala requires considerably more time than machine-made jewelry, resulting in a piece that is durable, balanced, and made to be enjoyed for years.

Warranty

Your custom mala includes our 30-Day Craftsmanship Guarantee covering workmanship. Should a manufacturing issue arise during this period, we will gladly repair your mala and we offer ongoing repair services when you mala breaks over time.

Additional Information

Because each mala is made specifically for you, custom orders cannot be redesigned once the process has begun. Our gemstone selection is extensive, although availability may occasionally vary. If a requested materials or design is unavailable and no suitable alternative can be found, you may cancel your order for a refund less administrative costs (Custom consult fee of $30 plus cancellation fees) before production begins.Please note that natural gemstones vary in color, pattern, and inclusions, making every finished mala beautifully one of a kind, so we request some flexibility with natural materials and availability, we can not always honor “exact” visions but will offer our best!If you have a special vision, meaningful color palette, or wish to commemorate an important person, milestone, or meditation journey, we would be honored to create a custom mala that is uniquely yours.

• Note: Most all malas are 8mm beads-  Aquamarine, coral, garnet, pearl, rudraksha, are smaller 6-7mm and other Indian cut precious gemstones like ruby, sapphire and emerald, have small holes and we must use smaller pearl knotting cord.
